How long is bad credit debt suppose to be on your credit report?

I have old Dr. bills and a few odd bills from way back. What is the legal amount of time for them to remain on your credit report?

Derogatory items age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. This is per the FCRA and nothing restarts the clock.

Until they are paid off or settled.

If I owed YOU, say, $1,000, do you think that if I avoid you for long enough that means I don’t owe you the money any more? How long would I have to avoid you?

Would you lend me $1,000? Pretty please?

Usually seven and a half years.
