Does affiliate marketing work for you? Whether it does or not, publishing good quality, informative articles will help you to promote your affiliate reseller links. The problem is getting good information about how exactly to that! A lot of information around the web can be rather vague. Here are three concrete steps you can take to make articles go to work for you.

1. Siamese twins.

The first job is… write an article.

(Duh.)

Bear with me. Writing an article is often the hard part for a lot of people. Do it often and it gets easier. But it starts with one article.

To start off with, your articles might not be, let’s say, of top quality.

But don’t worry: the best article writers started out poorly, and just persisted.

Now that you have written your article, write another version of it, using the same keywords. You’ll need two versions of the same article to do what I am going to show you.

Don’t make a big deal of this. Just do a light re-write.

Two versions are needed for publication. Google hates duplicate content, so make Google happy by not over-publishing the same material.

You might think this already too much work.

2. Now start at the top.

Your article will be read and noticed by appearing in the top five or six most highly ranked article directories. These sites get a lot of traffic, which you are going to “borrow”, so to speak. So this is where we start.

An affiliate reseller has to stay competitive. If you are not thinking of the competition… your competitor is! So decide you want your article to GET READ.

Ezinearticles (a.k.a. EZA) is the top article directory in the English language.

Don’t question their status. They are elephantine in proportion to other directories. So… get your article there first.

The remaining five or so are your next target directories. It is anyone’s guess which are really in this group… rankings change over time. Join the top ten or twelve and keep track. Use whomever is on top at any given time.

3. Now work your way down.

Now publish the other article. Remember you wrote two versions?

This second version goes to the next twenty highest ranked article directories, not to be read (because it probably won’t get easily seen) but to get backlinks.

Google and all other search engines like to see two things. They like to see keywords, but they also like to see backlinks.

Your keywords are what will get your articles noticed in the top ranked article directories.

Your backlinks from the lesser ranked directories get your website a boost in the search engines because now you have multiple links from all those article sites.

You are now going to get… both!

Let’s recap: Write version one of our article, then version two. Write as well as you can, and keep at your writing– it will improve with practice. (An affiliate reseller can only expect success through persistence!) Version one goes to EZA and the next five or so top ranked directories. Version two goes to the next twenty lower ranking article sites. Repeat this process on a regular basis, at least weekly. This will really make affiliate marketing work for you, believe me. Sure, it’s work, but well worth your time and effort.
