An ex-friend wants to sue me for a blown head gasket. Does she have a chance to win?
A friend i was living with loaned me her 2007 model car to go grab something to eat. i got about a mile away from her house at a busy intersection an alarm starts sounding in the vehicle. i look around trying to figure out whats going on and after second see that the car is over heating. being stopped at the light i switch the car of when the light turns i move around the corner and stop. i try to call my friend who doesn’t answer so i call her sister. Her sister tells me that the car’s thermometer goes up and down on its own and that it will sometimes slow down on its own but usually picks right back up and drives fine. (She has driven the car many times.) i try to call my friend again still no answer so i wait about 20 min to give the car a chance to cool and try to make it to a near by gas station about a half a mile away the car slows down like she said it would then stops and the oil light comes on. I call back and find out that the car had been needing a new water pump for months but the owner neglected to get it fixed or inform me that she had had problems the very night before and had come home early because the car was overheating. long story short after finally waking my friend up. she tells me to try to get it back to the house so after a stop and start 3 hour 5-mile trip i get it there. That night she loaned the car to her unlicensed 18 year old nephew (she let multiple people drive it) who kept the car out almost 4 hours himself. Then when she finally drove the car herself she realized that something was actually wrong. she took it to a shadetree mechanic who told her one thing charged her i think about 600 for it and told me that she believed i should pay at least 250. i payed it partly because i was living under her roof and partly because i felt sorry for her being a single unemployed mother. The after she paid the the mechanic told her she would need a new motor. She didn’t ask me for any more money at the time but again more because i knew that it was a lot of money i told her i would give her some money on it once i fully got on my feet (never gave a percentage or dollar amount). now we have fallen out and i have to sure her to get a computer ( i have extensive paperwork saying its mine) back she is saying she will counter sue for the car repair. does she have a chance on the counter-suit?

There is no way that you blew the gasket. That was probably from months or even years of abuse on her part.
no. its not your car.
A good example of why sitting through a small claims court session can be so entertaining.
JS is right. The gasket was already gone by the time you borrowed the car. She is lucky you gave her anything at all.
Only if she dresses really hot and the judge likes her, which can happen.
There is no way it can be proven that you blew the gasket even if you did it on purpose. She is just looking for someone to blame.
