Advice on paying off an impossible to pay off civil judgment in mn?

Ok, So the pity party story first. I grew up with an alcoholic and abusive step father figure around, and when I turned 18, I was kicked out of the house and lived in my car. About 5 years ago I got into a car accident. It was bad weather and I didn’t see a van coming as I took a left turn on a hwy. I was at fault. Failure to yield and no car insurance. I went to court and was charge with a restitution of $14,700. I was 18 when this happened. So of course I violated my probation because I could not come up with $14,700. The judge made it a civil judgment and I went to jail for a little bit because I didn’t have the money. At 19 years old. I was sold with the idea of filing bankruptcy to get rid of it and have a second chance, but the lawyer lied, and I’m stuck having to pay it. I’m trying to pay it off, working at mc. Donald’s. I want to get ahead in life so I tried to look into a career in the military, but they wont take me because of this. I’ve been trying to pay it off this whole time, plus get a place to live. So far after trying to pay it off every month I still owe $10,800. Trying to toss what ever I can. I can’t get approved on some apartments, get a car loan. Things like that. Just make life so much challenging. Now I’m a good guy, people like me. Never broke the law before or after this.
Yeah, I’m 25 years old now and paying it off. Bankruptcy is not a way around it. I’ve already filed and found out I can’t. There were medical issues involved and the state wont let it go away if they feel that it can be paid off. I was just looking for a way around this so I can serve in the military. I have learned many lessens, and on top of this incident years ago. Lost my college scholarship. I can barely afford where I live now. All I’ve ever wanted to do is pursue a career in computer science, or computer engineering. I’ve had a ruff start in starting out, but I plan not to give up in my pursue of happiness. If it takes 10 years to pay this off then that’s what it takes. In the mean time I just work. I know I could do better then Mc Donalds. I can fix a computer on the inside and out. Hey maybe is somebody has a lead on computer jobs, I would happily take it. I thank everybody for their quick reply.
